The singer Ronnie James Dio recently passed away from stomach cancer. His wife said that he rarely ate vegetables and his favorite foods were meats, pasta, and bread. He also enjoyed his wine. His wife encouraged people to be assessed for their risk of stomach cancer and to increase the amounts of fresh fruits and vegetables in their diets as that is one of the easiest things a person can do to prevent this disease.
Ronnie was Italian and I wonder if people of Mediterranian heritage are more prone to diseases such as stomach cancer, and if so, is it because of a genetic predisposition or because of diet.
